So what did the #5 do exactly that got them DQ’d?
http://www.lemans.org/explorer/pdf/c…
10.15 Conditions for classifications
To be classified, a car must:
d) When 75 % of the time of the race has elapsed: at least 50 % of the distance achieved by the car leading the race under pain of exclusion;
e) Taking the last lap in a time inferior to 6 minutes (start/finish line-start/finish line or pit exit loop-start/finish line), except in case of “force majeure” at Stewards’ discretion.
It is forbidden to stop on the track to wait for the presentation of the chequered flag.
Was their last lap more than six minutes? It wasn’t intentional, so one would think an exception would be made.
They didn’t stop to wait for the flag, either.
The WEC commentators kept talking about not doing a full cool down lap, but that’s not part of the article that race control said was violated.
It’s got to be the greater than six minute lap, right?
Also, will the Risi get DQ’d, giving Ford a 1-2-3?

They were a Toyota, and god hates Toyotas because they’re crap.

They didn’t do a cooldown lap.

Race control is picking and choosing its rules, it would seem. It didn’t make a 6 minute lap, and didn’t complete the cooldown. But, according to the post-race WEC broadcast, they used force majeure for Peugeot some years ago. They allowed a 908HDi to stop after the checker because it would be unable to complete the cooldown after it had been rolled out to slowly complete the last lap. Same should have applied here, but the commentators were speculating that because Le Mans is now a double points World Championship event, it won’t.
On the Risi thing, if they DQ them, they can eat a dick. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do, but they can eat a dick.

Race control said it was Article 10.15 that was violated. The cool doe lap is covered in article 10.13.1. That does say that all cars must do a “lap of honor” but it also says to go to Parc Fermé as soon as possible after the chequered flag or risk exclusion.
Oh well. Maybe they’ll appeal it.
That was one helluva finish.

Lap time (last lap was a 11:56) or stopping on the straight.

Considering they’re trying hard to penalize the Risi car, I would assume that they won’t appeal to the Toyota.

I knew it was over six, but I didn’t think it was that high.
Well, that clears that up. Sucks to be Toyota.

Seem to remember one of the 919s being classified at the end of the 2014 race, despite it’s final lap being something along half and hour.

It’s that high because the car didn’t stop until it crossed the line to start the final lap.

But 10.15 does have a “force majeure” clause. They should have been given an exception since they did finish the lap.
Oh well. I need sleep. Desperately.

I didn’t realize that it sat for as long as it did.
